This Lunkenheimer bronze whistle is made of ASTM B61 type S-1 steam bronze. She can be operated by either steam or compressed air.

This Lunkenheimer whistle was salvaged in Seattle in 1962 and mounted on a decommissioned Washington State ferry being used as a floating classroom tied to a dock at a summer camp on San Juan Island.  She blasted out the rhythms of daily camp life, reveille, meal times, and class hours. Our fine whistle was retired and has been waiting for someone to serve as a caretaker who will look after her and perhaps place her back in service.
She was tested on air and can been seen and heard  in the enclosed video.
